I have to admit, I’ve spent years in organizations where status quo is a thing. Where what we did before, and how we did things in the past, actually mattered. Like, a lot.
Hard to believe, that quality, Christian organizations could be filled with status-quo thinkers. (and for some, that’s a stretch, try bottom-dweller, don’t-mess-with-my-dysfunction, this-is-as-good-as-it-gets, I’m-here-til-I retire-or die-or whichever-comes-first sort of people.)
I did my best.
I introduced creativity, innovation…and in some extreme cases, FUN.
It was usually met with resistance (with a capitol R), eye rolling, and in one case, an outright thumbs down to my face.
I used to wear my “change is good” tshirt just to stress people out.
Now, my team, that was a different story!
We were the creative ones; the fun-loving department with the best food and great ideas. This is where I could really be myself. People would come from other parts of the building just to see us in our natural habitat; these strange beings called “creatives.”
It didn’t phase me. Because I know the world—and every organization, church, business, start-up or ministry—needs what we have.
Creativity is energy. Fun is energy. And it’s this sort of energy that loosens people, and organizations from the grip of mediocrity.
It’s this sort of energy that blooms into growth and excitement and healthy teams. It shows up in the quality of the work we do and the way we treat one another…and in our results!
This is true for individuals, too. It matters that you enjoy your work, that you courageously create work you LOVE. That’s where the energy, the fruit, the FUN is!
Trust me, if you are wasting years doing work you don’t care about, that drains you instead of energizes you, that leaves you feeling unfulfilled, unhappy and unimportant, your results will be disappointing.
Fruit flows from life!
Dead, dull, boring trees who have given up and stopped growing won’t produce anything anyone wants to eat.
I think this is the problem many Christians have, but don’t even know it. They stopped asking themselves what they enjoy doing, what they want their life to look like and feel like and produce. Or maybe they never asked at all.
The church is big on discipline, not so much on desire.
We are big on faithfulness and long-suffering, not so much on fruitfulness and loving what you do.
Friend, discovering God’s bliss for your life changes everything!
It’s not just for your enjoyment or fun, it’s because living in your place of joy and flow and ease, and yes, FUN…produces fruit. Following your actual desires, and knowing and doing what you want, leads to a life of abundant impact.
It’s the only way to actually do what you are put on the planet to do.
That’s why I’m so passionate about this book. Helping you find (and live from) your place of absolute bliss means the people you are called to help will be helped, the lives you are meant to influence and the legacy you are meant to leave will actually happen.
And that’s why it matters that you find a way to enjoy your freakin’ life!
Living a boring, status-quo life isn’t going to change anyone’s life, especially not your own. God has an incredible, colorful, joyful, over-the-top, out-of-this-world, I-can’t-believe-this-is-my-freakin’-life plan for you. And I’m here to help you discover it, live it, share it, and enjoy every single minute of it.
I believe in you!
