With all that’s happening in the world (again), we have to be very careful not to fall back into a place of fear, panic, lack thinking or limiting God (again).
I felt like I needed to remind us of this today.
As we see grocery and gas prices rise, fear is on the rise as well.
I’ve seen believers begin to move into a place of pulling back, hiding or as Hebrews says, “shrinking back.”
But we are not those who shrink back from our faith or back down from a fight, are we?
Not according to Hebrews 10:38-39:
And he also says, “My righteous ones will live from my faith. But if fear holds them back, my soul is not content with them!” But we are certainly not those who are held back by fear and perish; we are among those who have faith and experience true life!
(I mean, if this verse didn’t just make you jump up and do a little dance, I’m not sure what will!!
Reality check: God’s people have always faced giants…and it’s never been the end of the story.
Giants taunt every generation and every generation finds a way to subdue them.
This is our time!
We are surrounded by giants in the world, scarcity, rising cost of living, all kinds of problems, unknowns and unresolvable conflicts! All fear-mongers who want to deprive us of peace and hope.
But we can choose to not be intimidated!
Remember what Jesus said, In this unbelieving world you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world! (John 16:33)
The Amplified Classic Version adds, I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.
Notice the past tense:
Jesus has already conquered the world.
He has already deprived it of its power to harm us.
He has already killed every giant and defeated every foe.
It follows then that, we are not waiting for his return to be victorious!
We can kill giants right now.
Like, right now.
Right now, we can choose to be courageous and faith-filled.
We can choose to prosper in the time of famine and win in a season of loss.
Now friends, you know my heart. I am not meaning to be insensitive to the struggle. Or the pain and grief we are carrying from the past few years.
But I am saying what Jesus would say: these things do not defeat us, define us or limit us.
And this is heckin’ good news!
Our identity is still “giant-killer.”
And nothing that happens in the world changes that one bit!
We will not be shaken from who we are in Christ. I challenge you to take this on today, friend. See yourself as the overcomer you are, and refuse to give into the fear and panic that surrounds us.
THESE GIANTS WILL FALL.
We will defeat them as every generation before us! I love how 1 John assures us that, you can be certain that you belong to God and have conquered them, for the One who is living in you is far greater than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:4).
Refuse to surrender to the fear, lack or shrinking back. Take your rightful place, push back the giants that have been intimidating you and know that you are up to the challenge.
I hope this recharges your faith today, friends!
