This is an important question, friend!
It’s important for several reasons. First, God is letting us know that there is a new season happening, right now.
A new season of intimacy with Jesus, living in our true identity in Him and walking in more influence and impact that we could even imagine! This new season is not for a specific generation, or geographic region or group of people! It is for his people, his body, his Church.
He is asking if we are ready for a new season of understanding and unleashing the supernatural. Our first response is probably a resounding YES!
After the year we have endured, anything will be better than this, right? This year has been trying at best and terrifying at its worst! And now nearly a quarter of the way through a new year, it doesn’t seem to be getting much better. But this question is not really about what’s happening in the world. It’s about something much bigger and much more eternal.
He’s actually asking if we are ready to step out of the world’s system and the world’s perspective and go to a higher place of spiritual revelation and understanding. I hear God asking each of us if we are ready; ready to trust him in new ways, go places we’ve not been willing to go, believe for things we couldn’t believe for, and walk in a whole new level of influence and impact. It’s time. Are you ready? Are you willing?
God is calling the Church to show up; to stop messing around and walking in confused identities and beliefs, and get back to Jesus’ one command to just love one another. I am typing these words so hard right now, as if the pressure on the keys will somehow emphasize God’s heart on this matter. Hear his heart. We have the opportunity to get on his agenda in this new season, to commit to love and good works, to get out of our comfort zones and stop thinking only of ourselves, our opinions, our politics, our problems.
Know the importance of the season you’re in….
Proverbs 10:5
And listen to Matthew 10:
Whoever comes to me must follow in my steps and be willing to share my cross and experience it as his own, or he cannot be considered to be my disciple. All who seek to live apart from me will lose it all. But those who let go of their lives for my sake and surrender it all to me will discover true life! Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the One who sent me. Whoever receives a prophet because he is God’s messenger will share a prophet’s reward. And whoever welcomes a good and godly man because he follows me will also share in his reward. And whoever gives a cup of cold water to one of my humble disciples, I promise you, he will not go unrewarded.
God desires that his Church, his Body would be willing to go to a new place of spiritual awareness and personal surrender in this season. That’s why this is a serious question. When Jesus asks us to let go of our lives for his sake…we need to listen and respond thoughtfully.
I’ve had several months of really sitting with this and discerning where he wants us to go. (I say “us” because I believe many of you are ready to say “yes” to where God leads us…). I’ve been wrestling with this shift myself. But I’m ready to go! And I would love for us to go there together.
How about it friend? Are you sensing a new season of faith and purpose, a new sense of vision and calling, of intimacy and influence as his Body? I encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit to confirm this, to give you direction and a willing heart. I honestly believe there are going to be open doors of ministry like never before for those who are ready.
